Gifty Singh

Posted by Christopher Rudder

The dramatic nature of our existence allows singer/songwriter Gifty Singh to be daring, honest and zealous; leaving his audience thirsting for more. Warm melodies, with sharp lyrics is the fabric of his modern day interpretations.  Beyond the looking glass, this gifted musician attributes all racial, social and political influences in every composition.  There are no rules or games, he's a self-taught guitarist, pianist and drummer.  His poise and ambition drives him to produce, write and mix his own material to say the least.

His knowledge, style and poise will be a sight to see in the mainstream market; with spectacular commercial and independent performances, Summeries & Winterrors (LP) is set to release this year.  Until then, stay Gifted.

 "Heartbreak" by Gifty Singh

CR: I wanna thank you for taking time out of your schedule to talk with me and Rogue Magazine’s Hearing Aid . How Are You?

Gifty Singh: I'm great! thanks..

CR:...iiight lets do this!!! Aside from music and what is written in your bio, tell us something about you that your fans don’t know.

Gifty Singh: I love videography and photographer.  I have some projects that I'm working on regarding that right now.

CR: Tell us the story behind the song you submitted for the this feature?

Gifty Singh: Heartbreak is a song about love lost, and the moment when you think back to what was.  I'm currently putting out music appealing to a particular phase I like to call "Winterrors".  Each song gets deeper into the story of that summer love withering away in the winter time.

CR: As an artist, the musical journey is a long (trust me I know) and can not be done by oneself. Who are some of the people in your life who have supported you and continue to support you through you musical career.

Gifty Singh: The ones close to me know I do it for them.  The Gifted team consists of many moving parts, we have networks across the board.  Most of it could not have been done without MC Tito.

CR: Who are the musical legends that influenced you growing up, and/or affected your musical career and who are the unsigned artists you respect and love

Gifty Singh: Hearing my music, you can tell that I'm an advocate of feel good music.  And being an 80's baby my music influences stem primarily from D'angelo, Erykah Badu and The Roots.  Indian music has always had its place and hopefully I can share that side with my listeners.  There are many unsigned artists but to be completely honest I don't listen to music often.

CR: Aside from me (hahaha) who are some indy musicians you would love to have the opportunity to collaborate and work with.

Gifty Singh: I've met Justin Nozuka and Shad K.  So hopefully we can collaborate in the near future.  OH and ofcourse you. haha.

CR: For all of our readers who will hear some of your songs, read the interview and become instant fans; tell them where they can learn more about you, your music, any upcoming projects, events or albums. Tell everyone your website addresses?

Gifty Singh: New music is constantly the force that keeps us moving and you can go to my youtube channel to stay up to date as well as my website.
